As a central transportation hub in Taiwan, the newly expanded elevated Taichung Train Station has become a new landmark with its massive streamline-shaped roof and a ground-floor food court. Adjacent to it, the old Taichung Station, built in 1917, proudly stands with its elegant Neo-Renaissance architectural style. Admiring the red brick walls and central clock tower, travelers can still feel the excitement of the Taiwan Trunk Line Railway opening a century ago. The former platforms now house retired classic train carriages, becoming the focal point of the Taichung Station Railway Culture Park.
A mere 5-minute walk from Taichung Station brings you to the popular attraction Miyahara. Originally a medical facility named Miyahara in 1927, the building retains its original red brick facade and the sign of the former Taichung Health Center (repurposed after World War II). The interior has been transformed into a complex of pastry shops and restaurants. The ice cream shop on the first floor always attracts a long queue.
