    Raka, Lishan’s earliest name, is perched at 1,800 meters above sea level, it’s the "most remote tribe in Taichung".

    Because of the construction of the Techi Dam, the Atayal people moved to the slope on the opposite bank, now known as Yulu. Looking out, you can see a great stretch of tea plantations and mountain views, allowing you to put aside the world's worries and be in a paradise on earth.

  • Songmao Area
    Visit the Atayal Traditional Hunting Trail.
    “Tabuk is the name of this Atayal tribal village, it’s located at 1,600 meters above sea level, surrounded by dense pine trees. The Songmao Forest Trail is an indigenous hunting trail, also known as the "Soulu Trail." The natural area supports life for a diverse array of endemic wildlife such as the Formosan muntjac and the Formosan landlocked salmon. You can also see rows of columnar joint rock walls by the river. This area is a must-see for nature lovers.

  • Huanshan Area
    Enter the beautiful and peaceful mountain town of wisteria.
    Also known as “Sqoyaw”, the region earns its name because it’s surrounded by high mountains such as Mount Nanhu and Xueshan. In spring, peach and plum trees are in full bloom. Sweet pears are ripe in summer. Red leaves paint the mountains in fall. Delicious persimmons are ready for harvesting in winter. Due to the climate suitable for growing wisteria, the tribe has been coined as the "wisteria mountain town."

      In March and April, the wisteria flowers bloom, resembling a breathtaking purple mist surrounding the tribe.
    • Hunter's Trail
      Located next to the Sqoyaw, it is the ancient Atayal hunting trail.

      It is a group of semi-underground dwelling ruins built with wooden structures.
