Introduction
Located in the Guguan Hot Spring area of Taichung City, Meiji Hot Spring Hotel is the first hotel in Guguan Hot Spring Alley. Built with slate and gray glazed roof tiles, the Japanese-style architecture exudes tranquility and elegance—hallmarks of the hotel’s charm. The hotel’s hot springs are sourced from the foothills of Guguan, making it the perfect stop for travelers along the Central Cross-Island Highway to relax and soak.

Meiji Hot Spring dates back to 1907 during the Meiji Emperor’s era, gaining fame early on. It was later named “Meiji Hot Spring” by the Japanese. After the bathhouse was constructed in 1927, the hotel itself was officially established in 1976, opening the first gateway to Guguan Hot Springs.

The hotel’s spring water is clear and alkaline-carbonate, rich in sulfides, colorless, odorless, and transparent, with a water temperature of 60°C. After bathing, the skin feels soft without greasiness. The hot springs are believed to help with arthritis, neuralgia, gastrointestinal issues, and athlete’s foot.
