Well-known to those who enjoy mountain hiking, Baguashan is located in Guashan Village, east of Changhua City in Taiwan. It became famous as the best of the “Changhua’s Eight Scenes” and as the place that "sits on the village and overlooks the oceans." Baguashan has various names in the past, including “Wangliaoshan” and “Dingjunshan.” It was called “Baguashan” because during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor in the Qing dynasty, when Heaven and Earth Society (TiandiHui), the famous fraternal organization, established one of its branches, Baguahaui, in this region and actively conducted activities here. Baguashan Scenic Area covers a total of 10 townships/cities from 2 counties: Changhua County’s Changhua City, Huatan Township, Dacun Township, Fenyuan Township, Yuanlin City, Shetou Township, Tianzhong Township and Ershui Township, and Nantou County’s Nantou City and Mingjian Township. It consists of 3 major recreational systems: Baguashan, Baiguo Mountain, and Songboling (from the north to the south).

Baguashan is a famous tourist attraction in Changhua. Other famous tourist attractions such as Baguashan Great Buddha, Wudi Temple, Red-hair Well, Silverbridge Water Park and Anti-Japanese Martyrs Memorial Park can be found along Guashan Road. From the top of Baguashan, one can overlook Changhua Plain to the west and enjoy the view of Taichung Basin and Dadu Mountain to the north. The wonderful, unobstructed nighttime view also attracts many to visit after dark. Therefore, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the metropolitan Taichung and Changhua.
