Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area Headquarters

The Sishifenping Ecological Trail is upstream of the Penglai River in Nanzhuang Township, Miaoli. The trail features abundant trees, and you can spot fish underwater. Composed of boardwalks and flagging paths, the trail has a gentle slope, stretching approximately 400 meters and taking about 20 minutes to complete. It is easily accessible for the average person and ideal for family hiking, especially during the summer. At the trail's endpoint is a natural gushing spring pool with a year-round water temperature of around 18°C. In summer, it offers refreshing coolness; in winter, misty vapor creates an ethereal scene.
Because the pool is clean, you can spot native fish such as Formosan stripe dace and Taiwan torrent carp. Even the rocks and plants at the bottom are clearly visible. On hot days, you can take off your shoes to soak your feet in the shallower sections, enjoying the pool's coolness. The surrounding area has many Taiwan zelkova and China fir, whose reflections create a picturesque landscape resembling a classical Chinese painting. You can also appreciate tung blossoms and fireflies in summer, making it a perfect destination for family outings.
