At 1:47 AM on September 21, 1999, a powerful magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck Taiwan, resulting in one of the nation's most devastating natural disasters of the century. This profound moment in history is preserved with stark authenticity at the 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan. The Park completely preserves the surface ruptures and uplifts caused by fault activity during the earthquake. Along the carefully planned tour route, the tilted beams collapsed floors, and twisted steel bars, every detail silently tells of the incredible destructive power of nature. It presents a unique geological wonder and an essential resource for earthquake disaster prevention education.
Witness the fault ruins of Kuangfu Junior High School and feel the shocking scene.
The 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan, located on the site of Kuangfu Junior High School, was the worst hit by the disaster.

The Chelungpu Fault Gallery is the core exhibition area, a rare earthquake site presented in an on-site preservation method. The most shocking scene is the playground of Kuangfu Junior High School, which was lifted 2.5 meters by the fault, and the visible traces of surface cracks make people truly feel the tremendous power of the drastic changes in the earth's crust. The representative Kuangfu Junior High School building ruins area in the museum also deliberately retains some collapsed, twisted, and damaged buildings to present the full impact and shock of the earthquake.
Watch videos and play interactive games to learn about disaster prevention through fun and education.
The Image Gallery, renovated from the former Guangfu Junior High School Activity Center, is one of the most immersive exhibition areas in the museum. The "Earthquake Experience Theater" in the gallery uses a vibration device to let you feel the shock of the earthquake. Combining post-disaster documentary films, disaster relief records, and survivors' oral accounts, it truly presents the social and historical records of the earthquake.

The museum also has venues such as the Earthquake Engineering Hall, the Disaster Prevention Hall, and the Reconstruction Records Hall. From building safety and evacuation knowledge to post-disaster reconstruction, through interactive games and model experiments, it is very suitable for adults and children to visit and play together and understand the importance of earthquakes and disaster prevention through fun and education.
