Raka, situated on Provincial Highway No.7A, is both an economic center and a transportation hub in Lishan Scenic Area. The Atayal people, who once lived on the left bank of the Dajia River, moved to Lishan in 1915. However, due to the land subsidence caused by the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway in 1950 made them scatter all over Lishan.
