Hrung's residents originally lived in Masitoban, Nantou. The head of this tribe, Walis-Komo, led his people to cross Baigu Mountain during the Japanese colonial period and established Ulai Ruma on the left bank of the Dajia River. Due to the increase in population, these people moved to Hrung, a place named after a common plant, Indiacharcial Trema.

Yogao, one of the Seven Heroes in Guguan with an altitude of 1,796 meters, is a popular tourist attraction in the Hrung tribe. The round trip to this spot takes about 8 hours.
