Around the Qingshuiyan Temple in Baguashan, there are many Formosan Ashs that the rhino beetles love. In the early days, they were over-hunted in large numbers. In recent years, the awareness of ecological conservation has risen. Besides preventing businessmen from hunting, the volunteer team has also contributed to the birth of the "Qingshuiyan Ecology Exhibition Center," now an essential base for ecological tourism along the Baguashan range. The museum's hundreds of rich insect specimens were donated mainly by Hong-Zhi Chang, a retired teacher from Shetou Junior High School, who has made a complete record of ecological conservation education in the Baguashan area.
Plant the seeds of conservation through ecologically guided activities.
The Ecology Exhibition Center regularly displays rare specimens, insects, butterflies, and arthropods. The center has also reproduced them outside the center for several years. Therefore, during the active period of adult insects from May to July each year, you can observe up close the adorable scene of the rhino beetles hanging onto trees, making it an excellent place for ecological education on the rhino beetles in Changhua. Participating in the guided tour activities at the Ecological Exhibition Center can provide a deeper understanding of the life of the rhino beetles and awaken public awareness of insect conservation through education.
Promote environmental education and ecotourism.
Shetou Township in Changhua County regularly holds related activities at the Qingshuiyan Ecology Exhibition Center, integrating ecological tour explanations, DIY handicraft activity markets, and more. The township will also collaborate with local businesses to promote agricultural experiences, environmental education, and ecological tourism. Everyone can learn about Changhua's rich ecological beauty through educational and entertaining experiential activities.
