Shoutian Temple
Introduce the origin of the Shoutian Temple, the religious center of Songboling.
Legend has it that in 1657 AD, people who migrated from Fujian, China, built simple houses at the current site of Shoutian Temple and worshipped the incense of the Xuantian Shangdi they brought with them. Later, on March 3, 1737, the gods instructed believers to raise funds to build a small temple, and the temple gradually took shape. In 1745, the North Star Xuantian Shangdi transformed into an older man, went to the sculpture shop in Lukang to order a statue, and then instructed the locals to bring it back. The local people of Songbokeng discussed expanding the temple and named it "Shoutian Temple."

The traditional craft of Jiaozhi ware is the classic of temple architecture.
Shoutian Temple has over 400 pings, located northeast and facing southwest. The three golden characters "Shoutian Temple" on the temple gate plaque show its grandeur and magnificence. The temple uses mainly black gallstone and Luoxi stone as building materials, and the overall building is gorgeous. The famous masters Hsieh Tung-Che and Ming-Bi Lin made the Jiaozhi ware on the roof, turning various miracles and stories into vivid carvings. It is worth seeing the classic of Taiwan's temple art.
