The Guguan Shaolai Trail, situated in the Heping District of Taichung City, is named after a local tribal chief, named “Shaolai.” This 1500-meter trail leads visitors directly to a viewing pavilion at the top.
The trail, built along the mountainside, features steep inclines, with some sections being notably steeper than others. Visitors are advised to assess their physical condition before embarking on this trail.
While walking on the trail, hikers can enjoy the lush greenery and beautiful views of Guguan. However, some parts of the trail are geologically weak and prone to crumbling.
Although reinforced with wire mesh, visitors are still advised to proceed quickly when passing the area. Two resting platforms along the way for visitors to relax and enjoy the views. The trail is open year-round, showcasing different scenes throughout the seasons, including cherry blossoms in early spring and colorful maple leaves in autumn.
At the end of the trail, there is a viewing deck where visitors can take a rest. The return trip is a steep descent and requires strong legs. Next to the viewing deck is another trail that leads to the entrance of Mt. Pojinjia Trail.
Please note that this trail is steeper and more challenging, and it takes at least 7 hours for a round trip. The trail has two starting points, leading to the Guguan Suspension Bridge and the Shaolai Suspension Bridge. Visitors can see the spectacular view of the Dajia River Valley from these bridges.
The Guguan Suspension Bridge leads to the Guguan Bridge, while the Shaolai Suspension Bridge leads to Guguan Park. At Guguan Park, visitors can enjoy a free foot spa to rest their tired legs.
Please remember to thoroughly wash your feet before entering the foot spa. After soaking for 10 minutes to soften the cuticles, visitors can enter the doctor fish spa. Please move slowly and gently to avoid startling the fish.
