Mt.Bagua Scenic Area measures about 33km from north to south and 4 to 10 km from east to west. It has the Dadu River and Jhuoshuei River as its northern and southern boundaries; the Nantou basin and the Changhua plain to the east and the west; and topography that is low in the north and high in the south. The mountain is said to resemble a wax gourd. Ranging in elevation from 20 to 440 meters, it is rich in natural resources, historic sites, and local products. Besides hawk watching and bicycle touring, visitors also enjoy hiking and visiting historic sites and agricultural areas.
Based on the richness of these resources, the Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area Administration has adopted the "Green Silicon Island" concept in planning and constructing public and leisure facilities with the aim of improving the tourism environment and bringing it into conformity with international standards. The final goal of this plan is to develop the National Scenic Area into a lively, green, and sustainable international tourist attraction that will speed up the fulfillment of the government's "Doubling Tourist Arrivals Plan."
